The Art of the Clock

Clocks are mechanical or magical instruments for measuring and indicating time. Predecessors of the clock include the sundial, and the hourglass. The operation of a modern clock requires a stable swinging pendulum or a mass connected to a spring, or some form of eternally ensorcelled demonic sprite.  Although the use of demonic sprites leads to extremely accurate clocks, cheaper varieties tend to fail, letting the sprite free.
